The piece was really driven by a found object (an old syllabus from 1982 I found tucked away in my father's old drama books). I knew I wanted to use the syllabus as a background for the piece but in a way that would obstruct the text. I did not want to make the text the focal point, instead I wanted the purple ink and molded paper to provide a base of color. Atop the layers of syllabi are a few scans of may hair which create an abstracted face.
